Campervan or motorhome? My opinion after years of hiring both types of vehicles
This is probably the question I am asked the most before booking.
My answer is usually quite simple: it mainly depends on the number of people and the type of trip.
If four adults are travelling, I normally recommend a motorhome. Although our campervans are type-approved for four people and can be used perfectly well, when it comes to several adults over many days, the extra space of a motorhome makes quite a difference.
On the other hand, for couples, couples with one child or families with two small children, a campervan is usually an excellent option.
As well as being cheaper, it is much easier to drive and park.
The main advantage of a campervan appears when the trip includes mountain roads, small villages or many different stops. On these types of routes, the more compact size makes a significant difference.
You can move around more easily, park practically anywhere and feel more comfortable behind the wheel, especially if it's your first time driving a campervan.
If my trip consisted of touring several destinations, visiting villages and moving around constantly, I would choose a campervan.
If my goal were to spend several days at a campsite or by the sea enjoying the maximum possible interior space, I would choose a motorhome.
That is why I often recommend a campervan to those starting out for the first time on this type of trip.
